APRA-NW

The Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement's Northwest chapter presents:

WHEN THE PUBLIC LIBRARY IS YOUR RESEARCH RESOURCE

For those of you who depend on FREE and reliable information sources, APRA-NW's annual tour of the Seattle Public Library's comprehensive fundraising resources will help you go right to the right tool of your trade.

Yes, you can access the Internet at the library, but this meeting gives you four mini-tours of those areas of the library that are relevant to prospecting, so you'll know before you go what print directories and specialized databases they have available to the general public. You'll also get to know the librarians who staff these areas, as they give the tours and are full of helpful tips when you are stumped.

The tours will give you an overview of the following sections:

a.. the Humanities Desk with its wealth of biographical sources;
b.. the Social Sciences Desk, which oversees the Fundraising Resource Center, a cooperative collection of the Foundation Center;
c.. the Business Desk, with all its massive, business directories and CD-ROMS;
d.. the Newspaper Desk, with its newspaper and government databases.
