California Advancement Researchers Association (CARA)

2004 Conference - "Gateways to Gold"
University of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA
June 16-18, 2004

You are invited to "Gateways to Gold", this year's CARA conference, that
will be held at the beautiful and historic campus of the University of San
Francisco. Situated on a hilltop, USF has sweeping, dramatic views of the
Golden Gate Bridge, the city, and the bay. Condominium accommodations are
available on campus for a very reasonable rate, and attendees can extend
their stay through the weekend to enjoy the city after the conference.

Basic, advanced and special track sessions will be offered, providing
educational opportunities for all levels of experience. We are repeating
last year's successful mentor mixer at the Wednesday evening networking
reception, where new researchers can hook up with more experienced
colleagues. As always, vendors will be on hand with displays for attendees
to learn about the latest tools to maximize development efforts. Not to be
outdone by last year's dinner celebrating CARA's 10-year anniversary, we are
planning a nominally-priced special dinner at A. Sabella's Restaurant,
located between Ghirardelli Square and Pier 39 on Fisherman's Wharf.

The CARA conference is staffed entirely by volunteers, and volunteering is a
great way to get involved and meet people. Contact Ann Smoot
(ann.smoot at ia.ucsb.edu) if you would like to volunteer.

Early bird registration rates are:

$165 CARA member

$215 Registration and CARA membership (includes $50 member dues)

$240 Non-member

On campus housing is limited, so be sure to register early. The rates are
$45 per person per night for double occupancy and $60 per person per night
for single occupancy.

Watch for the conference brochure, which will be mailed in April with
further details about the conference program, registration, and rates.
Conference information will also be posted on the CARA website.
