Position Announcement:
¾ time Development Director
Open until filled

The Portland Symphonic Choir is currently accepting applications for the
¾ time position of Development Director. This is a 30 hours a week,
all-year position. Applicant must be available to work at the choir
office (Galleria downtown) although exact hours are flexible. Position
opens immediately and remains so until filled.

The Development Director is responsible for all aspects of fundraising,
including major donor cultivation, special events, planned giving, board
development, and grant writing. The position reports to the General
Manager and works together with staff and volunteers to carry out the
duties of the position.

The successful candidate will be an experienced development generalist
with a bachelor's degree or the equivalent, and 3-5 years of progressive
development achievement. The Development Director will be able to write
and speak clearly and fluently, manage many tasks at one time, and work
independently. A basic knowledge of classical choral music and/or prior
singing experience in a choir would be a plus. S/he should be skilled
in working with computers, including strong experience in managing donor
information systems and databases.

The salary range is $32,000 – 36,000 depending on qualifications and
includes no benefits.

The Choir office atmosphere is informal and egalitarian. Humor is
appreciated and highly rated. However, professional staff members work
hard and are willing to accept the stresses that come with major
responsibilities and external deadlines.

The Portland Symphonic Choir is currently accepting applications for the
¾ time position of Administrative Assistant. This is a 30 hours a week,
all-year position. Applicant must be available to work at the choir
office (Galleria downtown) 6 hours daily, Monday-Friday. The
Administrative Assistant is hired by and reports to the General Manager
of the Choir. Position opens immediately and remains so until filled.

This position involves basic office support for the choir in all areas
of operation. Primary duties will include entering and acknowledging
gifts in Choir donor database, mailing solicitation and thank you
letters, distributing mail and e-mails, answering and responding to
phone calls, fulfilling ticket orders, and developing/maintaining an
effective office filing system.

Applicant must possess good organizational and interpersonal skills,
excellent computer skills, and a basic knowledge of classical choral
music (prior singing experience in a choir would be a plus). Background
in working with Word, Excel and database entry is also needed.

This position pays $14/hour and is without benefits.
