If you've volunteered for a professional association, you often find
that friendships develop among your colleagues that transcend the work
environment. Chapter VP of Membership, Dedee Wilner-Nugent of The
Collins Group, shared her experience.



"I started volunteering for AFP after Aaron Pearlman me to help found
the CFRE Committee. At first it was just fun to get together with some
new friends to work on a project. Over time I've been more and more
gratified to see how the CFRE Committee has flourished, with new
colleagues securing their certification each year.


"Now that I've been on the AFP Chapter board for a few years, I've had
the chance to meet most of the long-time AFP members, plus I continue to
meet new members every month.



"I really appreciate that our chapter is so friendly and welcoming to
people who want to get involved, both here in Portland and throughout
Oregon and SW Washington. I also appreciate the way our chapter
consistently achieves the goals we set for ourselves, thanks in great
