Is it possible to convert a file system from EXT3 -> EXT2?

Well, since EXT3 is completely backwards compatible, there may be a more
serious problem: you may have corrupted your filesystem during the
install. You can tell fstab to mount it as ext2 and it will just ignore
the journal. You just need to get at the /etc/fstab and change all the
ext3 to ext2, and it should work as before if that was the problem. I've
done this before on someone else's machine, and it worked fine after
dream your dreams with open
eyes and make them come true...
