It already is:

encrypt passwords = yes
smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd

I set up smpassword using `smbpasswd -a` so the home shares wouldn't
have the same password as external `ssh`, and to permit a guest
user.

[root at hurston samba]# cat smbpasswd
# Samba SMB password file
[...]
guest:502:AAD3B435B51404EEAAD3B435B51404EE:31D6CFE0D16AE931B73C59D7E0C089C0:[U
