nfs locks up

A few days ago, I rebooted an RHL 6.2 machine which acts as the NFS server.
During the server's previous uptime of about 220 days, the NFS clients on an
RHL 6.0 machine worked with this server with no difficulty.

Upon the reboot, the clients on the RHL 6.0 machine have started hanging.
I don't see why. I can't think of anything I changed on either the server
or client machine.

I've tried increasing the default number of NFS servers from 8 to 16 on the
call to rpc.nfsd in /etc/rc.d/init.d/nfs; I tried specifying "nolock" on the
client side; and I tried killing lockd on the server side. None of these
help. Typically, the first few NFS clients work fine and then all
subsequent ones just hang up on the client machine.

What can I look for?
