Putting the word out here that the NOC has open student positions. Its a
normal campus job that allows 19.5 hours during quarters you are in school and
more during off quarters. If you apply yourself to the position it can be a
great place to learn and gain some pretty significant work experience. The job
text states preference for sophomore or juniors, but we are open to hiring
skilled and ambitious freshmen as well. :) I may be able to answer questions
that some of you have, but all applications should be made by following the
instructions on the page below.

"The University of Washington Networks Operations Center, Computing &
Communications is looking for a UW student with a strong interest in, and some
experience working with, network related problems and projects. Primary tasks
are to answer the Network Operations problem reporting lines; to monitor our
real-time network management tools for the University of Washington, Washington
State K20, and Pacific Northwest Gigapop networks; and to make daily updates to
the network monitoring databases. Daily tasks also involve IP address
assignments, answering basic security questions, working with major telephone
companies on WAN problem resolution, and investigating Internet connectivity
problems."
